New year new pics. :)

I am no good at this journal stuff. I've never been very good at talking about myself much.

The sunrise pictures I added are from last October at the jersey shore (ship bottom nj on long beach island). It was one of the few sunrises we had this past autumn.

The two winter ones are from this past week in central Ohio.  Been shoveling alot of snow. The two pics are just from the first day of snow.

Peace

Okay, I'm a day early. It's tomorrow. :D

Got a little something to play with from my friend Swannie so I got a three month subscription to dA to try out all the bells and whistles and see if I should start saving to join for a full year.

Wish I knew CSS to make a nice journal. lol But I don't even understand html and I've yet to figure out how to work with frontpage.

Well, I have a bit of time to figure it all out.

Wishing everyone a blessed and happy Easter.

This comes from Moonbeam13's moonbeam13.deviantart.com/jour… (she got it from someone else who got it from someone else and so on and so on).

I love her word searches for finding deviant art on site. Just looking at hers has shown me stuff I'd never had seen without it. So I wanted to try this questionaire search to see what I came up with.

Since I've no subscription yet, I have to link to the art I find.

Following up to my journal yesterday.

Everything is good.
My father is fine. His arteries are fine and dandy. The stress test was a false positive. His blood pressure is mildly high and his aortic valve has some calcification (but looks to be opening and closing fine). So the doc will reccommend to the gp that he get an ecocardiogram.

It was a long day. Got to the hospital at 9am for my mother's appointment. (All is well with her too. Her mri and cat scan follow up to her kidney operation last year was all clear as were all her other tests this month. Yay!) Then my father got the time wrong for his test. He said he was supposed to be there at 11:00 but he didn't need to be there until 12:30 for a 1:30 test. BUT - he didn't get the test until 3:30. Ugh. Alot of waiting and waiting and not having anything to eat or drink (Dad couldn't and we didn't want to eat or drink infront of him). It was over in 1/2 hour (no time to eat or drink lol) and then we had to wait until 6:15 before they would let him go.

Finally home and fed (Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich, fries and a frosty yum!) and all is well.

Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers. Truly the best of all possible outcomes for everything.

Seems my journal here ends up more about the stress of my parent's illnesses than about my art.

My father will be 78 the end of February.
He's never had a stress test.

My mom and I got their gp to finally get him to get one. Not easy. My father always just says 'I'm fine'.

He had one today.
He met us for lunch afterwards (I couldn't go with him as mom also had a doctor's appointment) and said he was told there was an anomoly and also where the anomoly was there was often a false positive and that he would let his gp know and the gp would get back to him about more tests.

Before my dad even got home there was a message on the phone from the gp saying the stress test doctor said dad's arteries were severely abnormal and he needed to get a heart catherization tomorrow. Dad is, besides being surprised and scared (they are moving very fast), pretty pissed off at being lied to by the stress test doctor.

So, mom has another doctor's appointment tomorrow at 9:15 am at the hospital. My dad has to be there at 11:30am for registration for his heart cath. And he may or may not be home tomorrow depending on how bad it really is. And it's supposed to snow overnight into tomorrow morning. I hate driving in snow.

Not exactly how any of us thought the end of this week was going to go.

Think good thoughts for both my parents please. That everything is well and if it's not, that it can be taken care of and will be well again.

Busy busy busy.

All sorts of mini problems cropped up this december that slowed me down.
I am normally a procrastinator, but this December I ended up far behinder than is even normal for me. lol

But, I am finally nearly finished everything except any food prep I need to do. I have two presents left to wrap and I have to sign my family cards, but beyond that I am done wrapping and cleaning and decorating and anything else that needed doing. Finally.

Not being up to pixeling (that muse seemed to take off right after Thanksgiving) I went wandering through my flash cards and found lots of photos I always planned on sharing. So I gathered a few and posted them.

I wish everyone a belated Happy Hanukkah, very Merry Christmas, Joyeux Noël,  Feliz Navidad, Happy Kwanzaa, Blessed Winter Solstice and a Happy, Healthy, Properous 2008.

I am the princess of procrastination.

I am. Ask any of the few people who know me. It should be my permanent life title. lol

Getting ready to head to NJ on wednesday for 6 weeks (or so) to spend time with my mom. Am I packed?  No.  Have I started packing? If you consider throwing some socks and a pair of walking shoes in my suitcase starting to pack. So I have two days to clean up around here so it's not messy when I get home (bathroom, laundry, towels, bedding etc plus ) and to pack and organize ( what's that? ) everything. Plus the regular everyday stuff.

I know better. I put my suitcase out a week ago to start putting stuff in. I had good intentions. Really. lol

Also I'm a clutz. I spilled soda on my ergonomic keyboard and it went all weird. Kept spitting out 7s. So I am typing on a regular one. And my arms are so sore and I keep typing wrong and have to back up and retype it because I hit the wrong keys. I'm hoping it will dry out. I can't really afford a new one just now even if they aren't that much money.

I am taking my backed up photos with me to NJ. One of these days I will upload pictures. I've been meaning to. For awhile. But as I said. I am a bit of a procrastinator. So they might not get uploaded just yet. lol

Also I want to thank Moonbeam13 for including several of my family and friends names for her walk this past weekend. It's meant very much and my mom was very honored to be included.

My birthday was Monday the 21st. Happy Birthday to me!

Ya' know, you'd think by the time you hit my age I would be over people forgetting my birthday. I discovered I'm not. lol At least not where family is concerned.

My father and my eldest brother both forgot my birthday this year. By the end of my birthday when I was getting ready for bed I was really depressed that neither called me. As of today neither has remembered that they forgot.

It's not like I didn't have a lovely day. I had a wonderful birthday.
Lots of birthday wishes in the forums I frequent. A few cyber graphic presents.
I got a phone call from my other brother and he sent me flowers. I never get flowers so that was fun. And they smell so good.

My mom and I spent the day playing tourist. We were in Cape May NJ all day. Wandering shops, having lunch outside, down at Cape May Point looking for sea glass and at the lighthouse watching birds. Heading home we stopped for dinner at my most favorite restaurant out here in NJ. I only get to eat there twice a year so it's always a treat. And is always delicious.

My mother bought me new batteries for my camera so I can take pictures again. My others weren't keeping their charge anymore and I just couldn't buy my own at the moment. Got other stuff too, but that was the most important. lol Well, the most important after spending the day with my mom. That's always the most important. Any time mom and I have together is the best part.

My mom's oncologist called today

Can I say, I love this man. He called over Christmas before her kidney operation from his vacation to talk to her. Twice. And the last two times he called her he called on a Sunday and today, Saturday. Never had a doctor before that called anytime other than office hours. He's awesome.

Anyway, he said that, and it's something I thought of and I had researched and found to be an obvious assumption - after my initial panic of course, that it was most likely elevated because of the kidney cancer. And he wouldn't have done the test now. Her gp, poor guy, was just trying to get back to normal and this is one of the times of year she always has the test done.

So, we can, at least for now, stop worrying about that. He said he wouldn't have ordered for at least another month. I figure she'll probably just wait and get it in the summer when she usually does along with the mri on her spine.

*insert sigh of relief smilie here*

Thanks to my sisters for the replies and good vibes and prayers.

Not 30 minutes after posting my last journal update we got a call from my mom's gp.

The blood tests she took on Monday all came back fine except the one that is the marker for ovarian cancer which which was elevated. Normal is 21 he said (though I read normal was less than 35 so I don't know now). But what is bad is that she had been hovering around 12 and this time it was 36.

So the relieft lasted about 24hours and we never did get to celebrate before having to worry again about the unknown.

Her gp will fax the information to her oncologist and she'll call him on Monday to find out what we do next.

She was having a wonderful day. We all were. So many ups and downs.  It's just so hard.
Update on my mom.

The kidney came back as cancerous, but completely contained in the kidney. No signs outside anywhere. So, cancer is gone and mom doesn't have to go through chemo again or radiation.  Yay!  :phew:

She was supposed to get a biopsy on the bone on this past Thursday, but the doctor wanted to do a mri beforehand to make sure he knew where to put the needle and after reviewing the mri with another doctor said she didn't need the biopsy. That the lesion is 98% likely benign. They want a follow up site specific mri in 4 months to make sure that nothing has changed and if not then follow ups later will be more spaced apart.

So for now, no cancer in the bone and the kidney cancer is gone.  :w00t:

Now she just has to recover from an infection she got after the operation and get her strength back. Which I think will be easier for her now that most of her worries are over.

Thanks for all the goodthoughts and prayers.

It's been a long couple of weeks.

About three weeks ago my mom was diagnosed with renal cancer.  She battled breast cancer in 1999 and ovarian cancer in 2001. We had all really hoped that after 7 and 5 years clean she wouldn't have problems for at least awhile. Unfortunately not to be.

There is also some sort of anomoly to do with her bones, but we don't know what yet.

She had her left kidney removed on Jan 3rd and I stayed in the hospital for the whole time she was there. We came home mid day on the 6th.

We get the pathology on the kidney on the 12th and then we find out what else needs to be done. If it hasn't spread then chemo shouldn't be necessary (and the surgeon said he didn't see any signs of spreading). I suppose then we also find out what next has to be done about finding out what the anomoly they saw on the mri and bone scans were with her bones.

Just wanted to let everyone know what's going on and at least part of why I'm not around much at the moment. I am physically though not as much mentally.

I spend several weeks in the late spring and in the autumn out in New Jersey where I grew up. Seems I take more photographs here than at home in Ohio. Something I really need to change if I am going to get better and learn more.

Went up to the Barnegat Lighthouse this past Sunday. It was my birthday. The weather was lovely and after a wonderful breakfast we sat by the lighthouse watching people and boats and birds. Walked along the the path past the breeding area there as well. Saw an American Oystercatcher. Never saw one before. Great to get a new bird for my life list on my birthday. Couldn't get a decent picture as I couldn't get close enough and my camera just doesn't zoom enough. I am saving for a better camera.

But, The water was lovely and some egrets and a heron posed very nicely for me. At least for a short while before I got too close and they flew off. lol
Wanted to add some more photographs. Haven't been taking any new photographs lately, but I have lots of things that haven't been seen anywhere that I can share.

Will be adding more as I go searching through all my photo cds.
